India is one of the most culturally diverse countries and is known across the world for its rich culture and bright festivals. A large number of different cultures are knitted together in a beautiful manner. One of the biggest Hindu festivals in the country is the Navratri. Navratri is the joyous way of worshiping the Almighty Goddess Durga in her nine forms, over a period of nine nights and ten days by following proper puja vidhi and fasting.

Navratri is celebrated five times a year, which are as follows:

Vasanta Navratri (Chaitra/ March-April)

Ashadha Navratri (Ashadha/ June-July)

Sharad Navratri (Ahvin/ September-October)

Paush Navratri (Paush/ December-January)

Magh Navratri (Magh/ January-February)

Vasanta Navratri and Sharad Navratri are mainly celebrated all over India, the other are only observed by Shaktas.

Chaitra Navratri is also known as Vasanta Navratri. As per Hindu lunar calendar, Chaitra is the first month which coincides with the month of March – April. Chaitra Navratri is also famous by the name of Rama Navratri as the birthday of Lord Rama falls on the ninth day of Navratri festival. Goddess Durga has nine structures, and all are loved amid Navratri by devoting every day to one "symbol" or incarnation.
